Wilderness development of urban greenspaces leads to changes in the conditions for plant and animal species. Lawns convert into meadows composed of a large variety of different types of plants. This in turn leads to more diverse resources for insects and birds. We conduct regular assessments of these changes and investigate the dynamics occurring within the plant and animal communities.

The species and populations of birds, bats, grasshoppers, bees and butterflies are surveyed on a regular basis. We record the occurrence of amphibians and dragonflies that inhabit lakes, rivers, creeks, and ponds that are part of some of the rewilding areas. All plant species are determined and their populations analyzed. Sampling plots are established in each area to record the community dynamics of plants and animals to precisely understand the interactions and obtain sufficient data for making recommendations for future development.
